Stoffenmanager® contributes to a new article on diabetes and nickel exposure in the workplace

Recently, the article “Association between nickel exposure and diabetes risk: an updated meta-analysis of observational studies” was published in Frontiers in Public Health. This article provides new insights into the relationship between nickel exposure and the risk of developing diabetes. This is important, as good knowledge of this topic helps improve public health and workplace safety!

Association between nickel exposure and diabetes risk

What this study shows, among other things, is that there may be a link between nickel exposure and an increased risk of diabetes among people with diabetes, depending on the type of diabetes. For instance, a higher diabetes risk was found at elevated levels of nickel in urine, but surprisingly, not in blood. This difference between individuals with diabetes and pre-diabetes calls for further research to better understand and confirm this effect.

Our CTO, Henri Heussen, made a significant contribution as an editor of this article. We are proud that his expertise is recognized in the scientific community. By actively contributing to such studies, we at Stoffenmanager® stay up-to-date with the latest insights and share practical knowledge. This way, we always provide our clients with the most current tools to map workplace risks accurately and ensure safety.
